Dula y Pipa is an organic farm and restaurant located in La Orotava on Tenerife. The proprietors of this amazing spot, headed by Chef Juan Carlos Clemente, are dedicated to brining the most delectable, healthy and local ingredients to their visitors. The restaurant is a part of a larger farm, La Granja Verde, which aims to invite people to see the entire process and scope of the food they consume. I stopped for lunch recently and was treated to an incredible meal, as well as a wine tasting of delicious Canarian wines.
Inside the modern and intimate dining room, wooden tables with white linens awaited. A prix fixe lunch was on offer and included: a selection of homemade breads, a small salad with micro greens and tomato reduction, eggs with new potatoes, onions with an herbal green sauce, eggplant with a light coffee sauce and a delectable fruit dessert. Local wines accompanied the meal and made for the perfect pairing with the well-executed food.
After lunch, I was taken on a tour of the grounds where I saw the gardens my lunch had just been picked from. Llamas, peacocks and beautiful rabbits milled about. Dula y Pipa has created an extraordinary experience for their visitors and the understated luxury of it all made an indelible impression. I highly recommend it for any visitor to Tenerife.
