A relaxing and beautiful experience in Quito is fairly easy to find. But, one of the best, is the high tea and coffee break at 4:00 pm in the lobby of Casa Gangotena. This beautiful and historic hotel sets the perfect backdrop to enjoy traditional Ecuadorian coffee, mate de coca (tea made from coca leaf) and finger sandwiches. The chef prepares cascading tiers of pastries made with fresh fruit. Tropical flavors make their way into the mix as well. The food is enough to fill you up so be sure to book dinner around 9:00 pm. But, even if you spoil your meal, it was well worth it.
