The Marker Hotel in Dublin, Ireland is cool. There’s just no getting around it. Overlooking Grand Canal Square in the fashionable Docklands area of the city, The Marker’s checkerboard exterior stops traffic and people as it rises from the concrete and water surrounding it. The facade is truly stunning and echoes the design of the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre which sits directly across from the hotel.

166 rooms and suites make up the hotel. Marble and metal seem to be the primary materials used in The Marker’s construction, but glass and pops of colorful, rich and soft fabrics soften the space. Rooms are large with gorgeous bathrooms and branded amenities. The hotel also features a spa with indoor pool and steam/sauna area.

One of my favorite parts of the hotel, aside from its design, is the food. Breakfast was pleasant, but dinner in “The Brasserie” is an event, and one that can be enjoyed whether a guest at the hotel or not. The Marker is a fantastic choice for any design-conscious person visiting Dublin.
