TAME Airlines, the largest carrier in the country of Ecuador, has more than meets the eye. At first glance, the modern and cleanly designed exterior in white and blue begs questions as to what the airline is all about. How’s the service? What are the seats like? Are the planes well kept? But, as a passenger, you soon find that good comes in unexpected packages.
I flew business class on TAME’s new Airbus A330. The seat was large and reclined almost into a flat bed on the 6 hour journey between New York and Guayaquil. Upon boarding, I was welcomed by courteous crew members and a welcome drink. Seats were equipped with fluffy pillows, blankets and finished with a high-gloss mahogany wood. The pilot of plane even came out to welcome passengers during boarding.
The flight is pleasant, departing around 11:00 pm in the evening, just at the appropriate time to get a bit of sleep. Flight attendants are attentive and serve dinner promptly. They offered me a plug to charge my iPhone in-flight too – a HUGE plus in my book. Upon arrival in Guayaquil, before transferring to my connecting flight to Quito, I was shocked at how easy and simple immigration was. TAME made the connection easy through detailed instructions to passengers in both Spanish and English. The truth is, I felt like I was flying on a familiar flight – one where I was relaxed and totally able to unwind. Choose TAME and you won’t be disappointed.
