An Ecuadorian shaman is a mash-up of spiritual healer, witch doctor and fashion icon. Now, while they might not be in the latest season of Givenchy or Lanvin, the colors, feathers, necklaces and other accessories inspire me. In Ecuador, shamans are often located in the Andes or in the Amazon but they are sought for healing experiences and cures from everything from annoying ex-wives and even cancer. I just love the bright reds, blues and yellow integrated into their tribal costumes. I also like the way they use hats and layering. I even went home with a few beaded strands to wear of my own.
