Iguana Café, a legendary restaurant on Guadeloupe, is owned and led by Chef Sylvain Serouart. Mr. Serouart is a master at his craft and has created an environment that is both beautiful and ideal for any lover of French cuisine. I dined at the establishment while in Guadeloupe and have to say that it left quite an impression on me.

The location of Iguana Café is a bit removed, but worth the drive to spend a few hours in culinary heaven. Upon arrival, the casual dining space and small cocktail garden instantly charmed me. I sat for 30-minutes in the garden sipping champagne and didn’t want to leave – though my table was calling for me. Once taken to my table, I sat and began a multi-course dining experience I won’t soon forget.

Mr. Serouart’s menu is rooted in French cuisine, but incorporates Caribbean flavors. You might find lobster with coriander and kefir lime, duck with mango chutney and mashed sweet potatoes or lobster ravioli with oyster cream.

No choice is bad here, and I highly suggest the tasting menu – 7 courses of pure heaven.

The wine list at Iguana Café leans heavily towards French varieties, obviously, and the cocktails are absolutely amazing, utilizing exotic fruit and local spirits.

Spending an evening at Café Iguana is an event. The service is outstanding and it will definitely be a highlight from your trip.
