Gustavo Moscoso, the Ecuadorian fashion designer hailing from the small town of Cuenca, is the face of his country’s menswear revolution. Gustavo was born to a Chilean mother and Ecuadorian father who was involved in many businesses, including textiles. Growing up, Gustavo would spend hours at the tailor’s shop where his father’s suits were made and became deeply interested in fashion and the art of dressing like a gentleman.
Years later, after studying business and learning about fashion independently, he found himself at the helm of his own label, “GM – Gustavo Moscoso”. What I love about his designs is that his ready-to-wear collections and made-to-order suits are tailored to perfection. He integrates bright colors and handmade fabrics into his clothes and is not afraid of mixing palettes. He works closely with a mill in his hometown of Cuenca that produces items for his flagship store in Guayaquil, selecting each fabric for each piece personally. Here are a few of my favorite looks from his SS2014 collection.
