New York City is loaded with airbrush tanning experts, but not all are created equal. What separates them are nuances that are perceivable only by those who are in tune to detail and variations in color, tone and texture. This is very hard to find. So, when you find an artist who understands all of these things, you shout their name from the rooftop. Soleil Spray, owned and operated by lovely Sonja, is a one-woman operation that offers home visits within the tri-state area for clients that expect the best. I was a recent client of Sonja’s and her Soleil Spray truly made an impact on me for a trip planned to The Caribbean.
I booked an appointment with Sonja and her office the day before departing to the island of St. Barths. My natural color from summer rays had begun to fade and, although I use sun protection daily and avoid direct sunlight, the desire to have a golden, sun-kissed glow was alive and well. Sonja arrived to my apartment on time and walked-in with a peppy, sweet and kind demeanor. She introduced herself and set-up quickly. With her, Sonja brought a tent that inflated in seconds to act as a place to spray, her airbrush machine, spray gun, gloves, nail protectant, foot pads and instructions on post-tanning protocol. It was all very comprehensive and easy.
Sonja explained my color options to me and analyzed my skin tone and prepared a custom blend that would give me a deep yet natural bonze so, upon arrival to The Caribbean, most would think I had already been laying on its sandy beaches for at least a week. The airbrush process was quick and easy, taking her just 15 minutes to paint me and dry me. I left the solution on for three hours, per her instructions, and rinsed to find the most natural glow on my skin. I was thoroughly impressed with Soleil Spray’s process and efficacy.
