Tenerife, and the Canary Islands in general, are a playground for Pilot whales who come to live, mate and play in the open Atlantic. Tenerife is the perfect jumping-off point to join one of the many tour operators who run trips from the marinas out into the area where the Pilot whales live. Just 45-minutes from shore, traversing the dazzling blue sea, you will be in the heart of whale territory. The boats bring you very close to the whales as you watch them swim, dip, dive and breach their way through the water. Often times, dolphin and other large fish can also be seen.
