A fantastic spot for lunch or dinner on the island of Capri rests in the beautiful Villa Marina Hotel and Spa – it’s called Ristorante Ziqù. The restaurant is headed by Chef Manuele Cattaruzza and takes guests on a culinary tour of the Mediterranean, utilizing fresh seafood and meat found in the region as well as herbs and botanicals grown on property of the hotel.
Diners can visit during the day or for dinner. The restaurant serves both inside and outside, dependent on weather, but outside is preferable. The menu is constructed of offerings from seafood to game and poultry, but seafood is their specialty. How can it not be when you operate on an island in the middle of the deep blue sea?
Both the inside and outdoor spaces are beautiful, though starkly different. Inside, you have modern black and white decor which is very clean and simple. Outdoors, you have colorful tiled tables, palm leaves and stone. Both are beautiful. I sat inside for my lunch as it was sprinkling outside at that moment. I didn’t mind.
I ordered straight away with options from the menu like fresh mozzarella and tomatoes drizled with olive oil and vinegar, white sea bass roasted to perfection with herbs from the garden and covered with a light tomato sauce and a sampling of desserts – creme brulee and panna cotta – from the kitchen. The food was very well presented and remarkable in taste. The service was the same, two staff members attending to me with the most friendly demeanor.
It was a true pleasure to dine at Ristorante Ziqù. The chef knows what he is doing and this is clear. Whether you’re a guest at the hotel or not, it’s a “must-visit” for anyone on the island.
