Oscar Blandi has been a trusted name in hair, especially in New York, for years. Set in a beautiful, bright space in Midtown Manhattan, the salon is the epicenter for excellent cuts and color. Mr. Blandi himself can be seen bopping around the space with his well known stylists and colorists, putting together looks and plans for celebrity clients, and other well-heeled New Yorkers “in the know”.

I experienced the salon recently, visiting blonde specialist Julie Onorato. I was welcomed with a warm hello and one of the guest managers checked me into the system through an iPad. Julie was out in a flash and introduced me to someone who would wash my hair and help prepare my head for a full highlight. I ordered a sparkling water and cappuccino, which was delicious, and Julie got right to work.


The salon was buzzing with clients, but the energy and space still maintained an air of calm and relaxation which is hard to do in a salon environment. Julie quickly made her way through my hair, foiling my entire head and adding lowlights in between to match my base color. Without the use of heat, which I loved, my hair quickly lifted to that buttery shade of blonde that I so love, and is so hard to achieve on a dark head like mine if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The entire process took me 90-minutes and I left incredibly happy. I cannot recommend Oscar Blandi enough for anyone who is looking to maintain beautiful color, or for someone who wants to change their look and only wants the best to look after them.
