Located in the beautiful little town of Baie-Saint-Paul, Le Germain Hotel Charlevoix is a stunning hotel that fuses modern architecture inspired by the rural heritage of which the area is known. Pulling-up to the hotel, it appears to look like a satellite campus of Google or Facebook – as its stark lines, and use of metal and glass are juxtaposed against a small town and pastoral surroundings. But, this is what makes it interesting.
I arrived in the evening and was escorted to my room, located in the main building. There are several buildings on the hotel’s “campus” – all with views and views of the town or countryside. My room was large and featured gorgeous wood details, a stunning bathroom with rains showers and amenities, a flat screen television, well-placed lighting and a bed to die for. I was in heaven and appreciated the attention to detail and design found in the rooms.
The hotel’ staff are very friendly and eager to assist, helping me with my bags and making sure I arrived to my dinner reservation at the hotel’s delicious Les Labours, on-time. Though modern, the hotel doesn’t forget its location in the country – so you will find such offerings as a bonfire in the central courtyard where you can sip wine and even roast marshmallows for s’mores.
Any visitor of Charlevoix should spend a night or two here. It will elevate your experience in the region and undoubtedly make an impression.
